Typically, in December, South Carolina’s electric cooperatives sponsor the Touchstone Energy Bowl – an all star high school football game played in Myrtle Beach. During bowl week, football players have the opportunity to go shopping with children in Horry County.
With the cancellation of this year’s Touchstone Energy Bowl Game, the cooperatives decided to take the shopping local through the Shop with the Co-op Initiative!
Palmetto Electric employees shopped and purchased Christmas gifts, along with basic necessities, for seven local children in southern Beaufort (3 students), Jasper (2 students) and Hampton (2 students) counties.
The cooperative worked alongside the school districts to identify children who would benefit from the gifts. Commitment to Community is one of the core values of Palmetto Electric, and giving back was the perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season!
