Nixville family one of the first to get high-speed internet

The Deloach family is just one of Palmetto Electric’s many members in need of a fast, reliable high-speed internet connection. 
When Palmetto Electric and Palmetto Rural Telephone Cooperative informed the Deloaches their home in Nixville would be one of the first connected to PalmettoLink, they were eager to sign up. 

The Deloaches were connected in January and have been happily satisfied with their ability to stream entertainment and make phone calls without any interruptions. With some of their family living in Texas, the Deloaches rely heavily on phone calls and FaceTime to communicate. 

“Before having PalmettoLink we would have to go outside to make a phone call or FaceTime our grandson,” said Stephen Deloach. 

While the faster connection has already been beneficial within their own home, the Deloach knows the importance of getting PalmettoLink to everyone in their community. He vividly recalled the difficulties local students faced when schools transitioned to virtual learning during the pandemic.

“The high-speed internet is good for us, but it will be especially important to the young people, said Deloach. “During the pandemic, we had to bring a bus (that transmits Wi-Fi) and park it at our church in order for local students to have access to internet.” 

The Deloaches say members of the community are hopeful and excited to receive PalmettoLink’s service. 

“It has affected all parts of our life,” he says. “It has been such a blessing.”
